What is the Christian message? A set of rules to govern you? A religious system to oppress you? Wonderfully no! One of the eyewitness accounts of Jesus' life (Mark's gospel) begins like this:
'The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God'
The heart of Christianity is a message, and it's good news! The kind of news to throw a party about. News which changes lives. It's a message centred not on rules or religious acts but on an historical person - Jesus. The one the Bible claims is God's forever king come to bring God's good rule of forgiveness and life into this world. In fact a man who is God himself - one who made us and gives us all we have. It's a message which calls us to find life in responding to him.
Many haven't had the chance as adults, to look into the claims of Jesus in the Bible. Many find the other things of life tend to take over. At St Paul's we want to help and encourage everyone to engage with this man. Why not consider joining us on one of our regular informal courses called Identity - an opportunity to look at who God is and who we are? You can come and just listen, ask questions and read one of the accounts of Jesus' life. You won't be asked to sing, pray or do anything you aren't comfortable with. You can even come to the first one as a taster. Look out for the details of our next course on the Events page.
Below is a short video which explains this good news.
