Prayer Breakfast
How important is prayer to the Church? How important is to you? How seriously do you take it? Do you generally only pray when you're in dire straits or is prayer a regular and important part of your journey with God in which you bring your concerns but also your thanks to your Father?
Maybe it's been at the back of your mind that you need to make more of an effort with your prayer time, and if that's the case then you're more than welcome to come along and join us at our monthly prayer breakfast. Conversely, if prayer is an integral part of your relationship with God, then we most definitely need you to come along too! As Jesus Himself said: "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them." [Matthew 18:20].
Over the past 10 years, St Paul’s has hosted this gathering, which consists of attendees from the sister churches in the surrounding area.
If you've read down to this bit, then I hope that you're sufficiently interested to jot down the details, so get your diary out!
When do we meet?
The first Saturday of each month in the Friends of St. Paul's shop on Woodlands Road.
What time do we meet?
Doors open at 8am for an 8:15am start.
What happens in the prayer breakfast?
The breakfast follows the Lectio Divina approach i.e. Read > Think > Pray > Live. So what does that mean in practical terms? Well, it means that we start with a bible reading [recent readings have included the kingdom of God and Acts 8:1-13 - the martyrdom of Stephen and persecution of the early church], and then think about how that applies to not only our lives but contemporary society as a whole. This usually comprises a good dose of healthy and open-minded debate. Following on from the theme, we then pray and finally we have some breakfast.
You will be sure of a very warm welcome, no matter where you are on your journey with God and where you're from.
