Sundays
What can I expect?
St. Paul's Ansdell & Fairhaven is made up of people from all walks of life who are wanting to grow to know Jesus more. None of us is perfect. None of us has arrived, but we are growing to know and be shaped by Jesus' underserved and lavish love.
When you walk through the doors, you will be warmly greeted by one of our welcomers and provided with whatever you need to participate in the service. There aren't any special seats, so please sit where you feel comfortable.
At St. Paul's we want to make you feel at home. Our vicar, church wardens and welcomers are here for you and you can ask them any questions and they will be more than willing to help.
We have a range of Sunday services starting with Holy Communion at 8:30am, which lasts for around 45 minutes. This is a traditional service of Holy Communion using the Book of Common Prayer.
We also have Sung Holy Communion service starting at 10:30am which lasts for around 1 hour and a quarter and uses Common Worship. At this service, we are led in our singing by our organist and choir. During this service, Sunday Club, our activities for younger people meet. The service is followed by refreshments in the church hall, which serves as a great opportunity to catch up with each other.
Finally, we have an Evening Prayer service at 4pm, which lasts for around 1 hour. On 1st and 3rd Sundays we sing hymns and the responses. On the 3rd Sunday of the month, we also have our more informal All-Age service where young and old stay together for all our time together. This service has a mix of traditional hymns on our organ, and children's songs and songs led my our music group.
At each service there will be Bible readings and a sermon, because Christians believe God addresses us as we hear the Bible read and taught. There will be times of prayer - both to say sorry and to ask God for different needs. At most services there will be songs. Christians believe the message of Jesus is something to sing about! At some of our services we share bread and wine (Holy Communion) to remember Jesus' death. Anyone who knows and loves Jesus, even if you come from another church, is welcome to join us. However, if for whatever reason that is not right for you, please feel free to come forward for a blessing (a short prayer).
Another thing to mention is that it's not all about Sunday - There's actually something going on most days of the week and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Can I just come along and see what it's all about without committing?
Of course! There are many varying reasons why a person might want to check the church out without necessarily committing. You can be assured that no pressure will be put on you at all.
Is there parking available?
There is ample street parking available around the church, as well as limited parking in the church car park.
Will my children be made to feel welcome?
At St. Paul's we recognise children as the next generation and therefore your kids can always be sure of a warm welcome. We have 'Sunday Club' or - if you'd prefer to stay in the church building - an area of the church dedicated to their needs, so ultimately you can take part in the service in whatever form you wish.
