7 Questions:
1. Role
I am the Licensed Reader in the Parish, the Sacristan and Editor of the monthly Pews News Extra.
2. Why St. Paul's?
I first came here in 1965 when the family moved up from Lytham. Mum became involved with the Brownie Pack and brought me to the Sunday School, which was held in the Mission Room on Commonside, where Ansdell Library now stands. Some may ask, "Why do you stay?" And to them, I say, "Because I belong!"
I have seen many changes over the years, some good and some not so good but to me, St. Paul's is my spiritual home and I am happy here.
3. What do you see happening in St. Paul's in the next 3 years?
I have seen some very encouraging changes over the past few years and hope that St. Paul's will continue to grow in faith and mission. There is still much to be done in the way of bringing together the different elements of worship but there is also a strong sense of fellowship within the congregation and parish, which is a good starting point.
4. How important to you is St. Paul's in your life?
St. Paul's has been an important part of my life since the age of 5. God is at the centre of my life and part of my calling is to serve Him at St. Paul's through my Readership, my work as Sacristan and through the editing of the Pews News Extra.
5. Best piece of advice for someone who's searching for answers?
Come along to St. Paul's and chat to the people here. We are a friendly and welcoming bunch and if we can't help you, we will do our best to point you in the right direction towards someone who can.
6. What motivates you to attend a Sunday service?
Even though I am actively involved in most of the Sunday Services, I love to come along to share in the Christian fellowship with like-minded people. I come to hear the Word of God spoken through the readings, the teaching and the prayers. I come to worship God.
7. How important to you is the Eucharist / communion, and why?
For me, the Eucharist is a constant reminder of the great sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for all of us in dying upon the cross. It is in the sharing of the bread and wine at the Lord's table, that we are reminded of his all-encompassing love for us and of his command that we should share that love with others.
